We are the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority
New name. New identity. Same ambitions for South Yorkshire.
To better reflect who we are, the communities we serve and the way we work we have changed our name from “Sheffield City Region”, to the “South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority”.
This change takes effect from Friday 17th September and is part of a series of changes over the time which will better integrate public transport, the Mayor and the four Councils of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield and the private sector through the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
These bodies together serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire. By bringing these organisations together we will be able to better invest in and manage the 102 million passenger journeys made each year in South Yorkshire and deliver on our mission to create a stronger, greener, fairer South Yorkshire.
Comprised of a Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) and the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) we work at a regional level to invest in delivering business growth, skills and economic development related projects, in addition to transport, housing, and the Mayor’s agenda.
We are a diverse and super-connected economy comprising a dynamic core city, thriving towns and market towns, outstanding countryside and a significant rural economy.
Building a stronger, greener and fairer economy for South Yorkshire
The Renewal Action Plan sets out our road map to help South Yorkshire recover from the pandemic and put us on the path towards social and economic renewal. It will help people, employers and places recover, and put us on course to transform our region – making our economy and society stronger, greener and fairer.
The plan also contributes to our longer-term goals and the transformation of our City Region – so we can build back better.
