LEP welcomes growing business to Sheffield City Region Enterprise Zone
A manufacturing company expects to create around 60 new jobs in Barnsley as it moves to a huge state-of-the-art factory located in Sheffield City Region’s Enterprise Zone.
Ellbee Ltd is bringing all of its operations to the Sheffield City Region’s Ashroyd Business Park, close to Junction 36 of the M1, within the next four months.
Ellbee Managing Director Nigel Smailes said:
“We chose the site for its excellent transport links, especially to the East Coast, and because being based there gives us access to a pool of skilled local staff.”
James Newman, Sheffield City Region LEP chairman said:
“I would like to congratulate Ellbee on this excellent decision to bring its growing business to the Sheffield City Region Enterprise Zone at Ashroyd Business Park, Barnsley.
“The Enterprise Zone continues to attract a range of investors to the Sheffield City Region –bringing sustainable employment and economic growth.
“Ellbee is moving into a property which is ideally suited to its business and will benefit from access to a ready labour pool, effective business support, excellent transport links and a good quality of life for its employees.”
Ellen Cutler, Director of Inward Investment for the Sheffield City Region, said:
“Barnsley Development Agency provided Ellbee with a first class business support package, and continues to assist with the recruitment process.
This is a hugely positive step in the development of the SCR Enterprise Zone as a UK hub of modern manufacturing.”
The Sheffield City Region Enterprise Zone is recognised by the Financial Times fDi magazine as number one in the UK for modern manufacturing and technology. Ashroyd Business Park is one of the three locations along the M1 corridor making up the Enterprise Zone.
