Sheffield City Region attends LEP Network Annual Conference
The LEP Network Annual Conference is being held in London today (18 April).
Representatives attending from the Sheffield City Region include Private Sector Board Member Lee Strafford and Enterprise Zone manager Michael Hellewell.
Lord Heseltine will be a key speaker at the event which will bring together senior figures from government, civil servants, as well as representatives from LEPs and the wider economic community. Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Greg Clark MP, has also been confirmed as a speaker.
In October 2012, Lord Heseltine’s UK growth policy report, which recommended expanding the economic leadership role and funding on offer to LEPs, was broadly supported by the Sheffield City Region. Heseltine’s report endorsed the principle that private-public partnership is the best way to deliver economic growth.
In his recent blog, LEP Network Chairman David Frost said:
“The Conference on the 18th April is generating significant interest no doubt on account of the Programme which has high level Secretary of State and Ministerial involvement. This again highlights the focus that is being put on LEPs in their role in generating local economic growth.”
