LEP Chairman New Year message

Published 23rd December 2013 at 2:43pm

On behalf of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year.

Last week, as we submitted our draft Growth Plan to Government, I reflected on the hundreds of different people, organisations and businesses that have worked with our LEP over the past year.

Our draft Growth Plan is proof of the strength of our relationships. As a result, our plan really belongs to all its many makers: our partners.

I would like to thank all those from across the Sheffield City Region for helping to create a plan that we can all believe in – we now have a truly shared vision.

Looking forward to 2014 and beyond, we can see what we have to do to grow our economy. The City Region has bold ambitions and we know that the scale of the challenge is great. The Growth Plan gives the City Region clear direction and sets out structures to deliver jobs and growth.

We know that creating 6,000 new start-up businesses, generating 70,000 new jobs and fuelling £3 billion of additional economic output is going to mean working together more closely next year – and building even stronger relationships is something we can really look forward to.

As the clock strikes midnight and the New Year arrives, I will raise a toast to the progress we’ve put in this year and look forward to working with you in 2014 as we start to make our vision a reality.
