Communities across Sheffield City Region are set to benefit from £3.4m of funding to help people most in need.

The Big Lottery Fund confirmed this week that it is matching funds from the European Social Fund (ESF) 2014-2020 to provide joint investment in local projects tackling the root causes of poverty, promoting social inclusion and driving local jobs and growth.

The local programme has been designed by the Sheffield City Region’s Social Inclusion and Equalities Advisory Board to focus social priorities in the area. Funds will be used to help disadvantaged local people to develop their skills and overcome barriers to work, education and training. This includes funding earmarked for projects which help residents with disabilities and long term health barriers.

In partnership with Sheffield City Region, Key Fund will be running a series of events across Sheffield City Region throughout June to discuss the calls and give organisations a chance to network. Details of the events are as follows.

18 June 10am-12pm – Voluntary Action Barnsley
19 June 10am-12pm – Bolsover CVP
19 June 2pm-4pm – Bassetlaw CVS, Worksop
22 June 10am-12pm – Voluntary Action Rotherham
25 June 10am-12pm – Doncaster CVS
