Export Week offers overseas opportunities

Wide range of events being staged by UKTI between 9th and 13th November

Events to help Yorkshire and the Humber businesses to start exporting or increase their international trade are being held throughout the region as part of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) Export Week from November 9th to 13th.

UKTI Yorkshire and the Humber and its partners and business organisations are together staging a total of 11 events and 2 webinars throughout the week of Monday, 9th November to Friday, 13th November inclusive to open global trading doors for local businesses.

Two keynote events in Yorkshire and the Humber during Export Week are:

ExploreExport at The Civic in Hanson Street, Barnsley on Tuesday, 10th November from 8.30am to 4pm – at which market specialists from around the world who are expert in their chosen countries will help businesses take their first or next step in exporting.

Global Markets: Global Opportunities in the Chemical Sector at Elizabeth House, 13-19 Queen Street, Leeds on Friday, 13th November from 12noon to 2pm. This roundtable staged by UKTI Yorkshire and the Humber in partnership with Clarion Solicitors will explore global threats and opportunities in the international chemical sector. Speakers include Alastair Gardner, a business adviser with UKTI and expert on the chemicals sector and Dr Richard Smith, managing director of Surfachem.

Around the World in 80 Minutes at which companies from the region will meet experts and exporters to discuss demand for their products and services in relevant overseas markets. The event at Cedar Court Hotel, Denby Dale Road in Wakefield on Monday, 9th November runs from 6.30pm to 7.50pm and will also feature export businesses offering insight into their experience overseas.

Taking GREAT to Japan: an event between 11am and 2pm on Monday, 9th November at restaurant Hokkaido, 113-115, Kirkgate, Wakefield at which UKTI advisers will highlight opportunities for companies in Japan and present case studies of local companies already trading there. Guest speaker Kiyoko Naish of Qiconcepts will explain her role in helping firms to enter the Japanese market.

Not Difficult, Just Different: 5 Steps to Exporting: a breakfast seminar for first time exporters between 7.30am and 8.30am on Wednesday, 11th November at Dean Clough Limited, Halifax. The event being staged by UKTI, Calderdale Council and the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership will include Calderdale exporters Summit Consulting and Monarch Mobility sharing their export journey and offering expert advice on how to break into overseas markets.

A breakfast seminar entitled Experts in Export from 8am to 10.30am at Mazars House, Gelderd Road, Leeds on Wednesday, 11th November at which experts from accountancy firm Mazars will offer advice on key topics such as preparing for export, hoe to access overseas markets, local tax, VAT and financial issues and ‘hot’ regions.

An Introduction To Export – a full day course at Sheffield Chamber, Albion House, Savile Street, Sheffield on Thursday, 12th November offering guidance for anyone wanting to export.

The Technical Elements of e-Exporting Webinar – a ‘live’ webinar on Wednesday, 12th November to consider the steps required to create a successful international business online.

Utilising eBay and Amazon for Export Success Webinar – a ‘live’ webinar on Wednesday, 12th November aimed at online sellers wanting to increase their export sales via global e-marketplaces.

Not Difficult, Just Different: 5 Steps to Exporting: a breakfast seminar for first time exporters from 8am on Friday, 13th November at Doncaster Airport Hangar 3.The event being staged by UKTI and Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership will include construction business Pacy Wheatley, foundry Noel Village and food manufacturer World Feeds sharing their export journey and offering expert advice on how to break into overseas markets.

China – Beyond The Headlines – Doing Business Today – a workshop on Friday,13th November from 3pm to 5pm at Radio Design, Shipley Wharf, Shipley. Philip Davies MP and the China-Britain Business Council join Shipley company Radio Design, IP specialists James Love Legal and UKTI to stage a workshop on the business climate in China today.
