Sheffield City Region at No 10
Delegates from the Sheffield City Region visit 10 Downing Street tomorrow, (Friday 21st Oct) to talk about investment opportunities.
The event hosted by Greg Hands, Minister for International Trade, sees the Sheffield City Region, one of only three in the UK invited to pitch, presenting the case for investing in the region to senior investors and key development and regeneration specialists.
The prestige invitation was a high note ending a hugely successful week at MIPIM UK, the world’s largest property and investment showcase, for the Region/
Rachel Clark, Director of Inward Investment at Sheffield City Region, said: “The delegation from our region is very strong, as are our investment opportunities. This was recognised not only by those we met at the conference and exhibition, but very importantly by the Department for International Trade, the government’s inward investment specialists.
“The region was hand-picked, ahead of many competitors from other regions, to participate at the 10 Downing Street event because the return on investment offered to investors and across our region is immense. It out-plays many other projects elsewhere in the UK.”
SCR Chairman, Sir Nigel Knowles agreed: “Being selected to pitch at No. 10 is a huge honour. It is a real testament to the opportunities our region presents to potential investors, as well as the continuity now offered to an investor as a result of the devolution deal funding secured over the next 30 years.
“Investors are choosing the Sheffield City Region because we are providing reliable and straightforward partnerships which allow businesses to thrive. We are committed to building vibrant communities, with high-value jobs across new businesses.
“Our team did us proud this week in showing that our straightforward and enterprising approach really works.
“I have no doubt we will be equally successful at the bigger sister of this event, MIPIM Cannes.”
SCR LEP will host a delegation to MIPIM in Cannes in March 2017 where it will promote major projects including the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District and the fast growing Doncaster Sheffield airport, which now has freight and passenger travel to 40 destinations worldwide.
