Join us for an update on the Aero Centre Yorkshire, based at one of the UK’s fastest-growing airports, and with a dedicated motorway link. Underpinning the boom in aerospace in the region, Aero Centre Yorkshire is the hub of a sub-region which unites aviation, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, cargo, logistics, offices, and community facilities in a strong catchment area.

The Aero Centre has seen £200million investment in a full service international airport and significant land bank, and offers a £100 million investment opportunity including an Enterprise Zone area. It is home to over 100 thriving businesses and with a 1,600-acre estate can deliver a further 4.5million sq ft airside expansion.

It now forms a key plank in the Northern Powerhouse and is an offering from the Peel Group which has a strong record of delivering major UK investment projects such as Media City UK, Manchester and Liverpool 2, at the Port of Liverpool

The region’s strengths in the aerospace sector, reinforced by its unrivalled expertise in advanced manufacturing, are making it an extremely attractive destination for investors. Boeing, which has 30 locations around the world, decided to site its first factory in Europe in the region because of its strengths in partnership working and advanced manufacturing. Twenty-seven leading firms, including Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, and Airbus also collaborate on research with the University of Sheffield and Boeing will rub shoulders with a host of leading names such as Rolls-Royce, Nikken Kosakusho Europe, Maher, and Materialise.

Supercar manufacturers McLaren have also decided to begin R & D and build a factory in the Sheffield City Region with a £50million investment, persuaded by its strong partnership working and advanced manufacturing expertise.

The aero industry is just part of the picture of success in the Sheffield City Region. Investors and journalists are invited to join us at MIPIM Cannes, either at our stand in the Palais des Festivals R7 C17 all week, to hear about the £1billion opportunities the region’s team is promoting, or at one of the events below where specialist announcements will be made.
