Growth Plan video
The Sheffield City Region LEP has produced an original animated video to raise awareness of its economic ambitions for the area.
Watch the video here:
The video has been created to promote the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan which was submitted to Government on Monday last week (31 March).
The LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan aims to create 70,000 new private sector jobs and 6,000 new businesses over the next ten years.
The Strategic Economic Plan is currently being considered by Ministers and will form the basis of a ‘Growth Deal’ with Government which the LEP expects to have agreed by mid-June.
James Newman, Sheffield City Region LEP Chairman, said:
“We’ve created this unique video to raise awareness of the LEP’s ambitions to grow the Sheffield City Region’s economy.
“The video has been designed to communicate the key messages about our Growth Plan, which is based on creating more private sector jobs by ensuring our businesses are encouraged and incentivised to grow.
“We believe that by Government devolving more funding and powers to local business and political leaders, better decisions, better value for money and more effective delivery will be achieved than by relying on national schemes created by and managed from Whitehall.”
The Minister for Cities, Greg Clark MP, said:
“The Growth Deal provides a fantastic opportunity for Sheffield City Region LEP to seek freedoms, flexibilities and influence over resources from government, and a share of the Local Growth Fund to put towards their the growth priorities set out in this Strategic Economic Plan.
“This provides the opportunity to unleash the ambition and creativity of Sheffield City Region’s local leaders, by devolving resource and responsibility in return for compelling local economic leadership in pursuit of growth.”
