LEP Board Recruitment

Our strong private-public partnership is helping drive economic growth across the Sheffield City Region.  We regularly recruit bold and motivated business people to join senior business leaders, the Mayor and council Leaders on our Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Board.

Applications for our latest round of LEP Board recruitment have now closed.

Our next round of recruitment is scheduled to place in Summer 2020.  In the meantime, you can read more about being a LEP Board member below.

What is the role of a LEP Board member?

LEP Board members shape the economic strategy for the Sheffield City Region and ensure that we maintain our focus on delivery to grow the City Region economy.  You can view the job description and person specification for a LEP Board member in our 2018 LEP Board Recruitment Brochure

Are LEP Board members paid?

How often does the LEP Board recruit new members?

Recruitment for the LEP Chair and LEP Vice Chair takes place every three years.  The next round of recruitment for a LEP Chair and LEP Vice Chair is scheduled to take place in Autumn/Winter 2021.

The recruitment process for other permanent LEP Board members takes place at least every two years.  Recruitment for LEP Board members took place in Summer 2017 and Summer 2018, and will take place again in Summer 2020 and Summer 2021.  Permanent LEP Board members are appointed on a three-year term.

The LEP Board is also able to co-opt additional members onto the LEP Board to provide additional expertise and knowledge on specific topics/themes, such as housing, skills, infrastructure and transport.  Co-opted members are appointed on a one-year term.

How are LEP Board vacancies advertised?

When positions on the LEP Board become available, the vacancies are advertised on this page and through our social media channels.  We issue press releases to the local and regional media and ask our local business representative organisations to promote the vacancies in their communications with their members.  Vacant positions for the LEP Chair and LEP Vice Chair are also advertised in the national media and on the Government’s Public Appointments website.
