The key towns and core city of the Sheffield City Region are undergoing a private sector led urban renaissance. The Sheffield City Region uses its available capital funding to help unlock private sector investment including transport connectivity.
This project will deliver additional lanes on sections of the A630 between Junction 4 of the M18 and A18 Leger Way/Thorne Road, including the replacement of a rail bridge pinch point, which currently contributes to delays, particularly during peak times. This improvement scheme will provide extra capacity both under the rail bridge and at key junctions for traffic along the route, providing journey time and reliability benefits for commuters, business users and public transport providers.
The project has the potential to unlock 3,000 houses and nearly 940,000 sq m of commercial development.
This project includes a contribution from the Government’s National Productivity Investment Fund as well as Local Growth Fund resources, part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
SCR LGF allocation: £5,000,000
Total project cost: £10,650,000
