This investment helps maintain the world-class capabilities of the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), attracting additional inward investors such as McLaren Automotive and Boeing.
This investment supports the establishment world class composite and light weight structure research facilities as part of the AMRC. The project will provide the Centre with leading edge capacity in this area of growth in the aerospace and automotive sectors. The first phase puts in place a hydraulic press facility adjacent to the Factory 2050 location and provide equipment on which to undertake industrial research with commercial clients, including McLaren Automotive.
This project included a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
This investment is expected to deliver 339 jobs
