Ensuring the facilities that learners in our vocational education facilities are the best they can be is an important city region priority.
This investment has delivered a world class new National Centre for High Speed Rail (NCHSR) college. The NCHSR vision is to deliver high level technical skills at level 4 and 5 in Railway Engineering and Technology. This has created a new elite institution providing specialised facilities which will deliver the high level technical skills needed for HS2, whilst also creating a broader offer intended to meet the recognised demand for an increased supply in high level technical engineering skills in the rail industry more generally and in the wider economy.
This project, which has completed, included a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
