Great Yorkshire Way
Creating a super-connected city region is an important objective for the Sheffield City Region. A key element of this is ensuring we support the growth of Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the opening up of major employment and housing sites within Doncaster and the wider Sheffield City Region.
The Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS) project – now known as Great Yorkshire Way – has provided a new highway from the M18 at junction three to Doncaster Sheffield Airport with links into Rossington and the iPort development.
As well as supporting exciting new developments along the route and at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, these new stretches of road will reduce congestion and dramatically cut journey times for people travelling to and from the south of Doncaster.
One of those new developments includes the regeneration of the former Rossington Colliery accessed by a link from West End Lane in Rossington to Great Yorkshire Way.
The scheme has won a string of awards for its economic impact.
This project includes a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
