Investing in improved transport connectivity across the Sheffield City Region is a key priority.
Bassetlaw District Council’s Local Plan aims to build 1500 new homes and create almost 100 hectares of new employment land over the next 15 years in Harworth and Bircotes. This requires four junction improvements in two phases. This scheme includes improvements centred around the A1 and Blyth Road.
The project forms part of the £320m Sheffield City Region Infrastructure Fund (SCRIF). This project, which has completed, included a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
This investment is expected to deliver 2,281 jobs.
SCR LGF allocation: £450,000
Total project cost: £3,055,000
