The key towns and core city of the Sheffield City Region are undergoing a private sector led urban renaissance. The Sheffield City Region uses its available capital funding to help unlock private sector investment.
The Combined Authority will consider the proposal through its usual project assurance framework to make sure that any investment unlocks economic growth and contributes to the Sheffield City Region’s ambitions to create 70,000 additional jobs, build 7,000 homes a year and create £3.1bn of additional GVA. This scheme seeks to consolidate the existing educational and cultural role of the Fitzalan Square and Brown Street corridor in Sheffield City Centre by bringing sites forward for redevelopment. This project will address specific infrastructure issues and provide a high quality environment.
This project, which is currently in delivery, includes a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
This investment is expected to deliver 2,863 jobs.
