This project enables Sheffield College to increase its vocational training offer for STEM occupations in the construction and engineering sectors. The funding has been used for to provide specialist simulation software and equipment such as a virtual reality welder, and pneumatic and hydraulic simulation and diagnostic software so that learners can learn and test out their knowledge and skills using the latest technology in different scenarios. Also funded was the installation of a digital fibre link to the jointly operated engineering training centre (Liberty and the College) in Stocksbridge where much of the engineering provision is located.
This project, which has completed, included a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
