Investing in infrastructure, including highways is a key part of our efforts to unlock economic growth in the Sheffield City Region.
This scheme includes improvements to five key junctions along the A57 to relieve congestion, which affects the desirability of a key brownfield site (Vesuvius Works) in Worksop for investors and developers. The overall project will ultimately lead to the creation of between 2,500 to 6,000 new jobs over 15 years and contribute to the development of c.48 hectares of new employment land and 1,600 new houses.
This project, which has completed, included a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
This investment is expected to deliver 1,355 jobs.
