The director at Krantech, Paul Wright, came to Skills Made Easy to help source suitable tailored training that would enable the company to recruit more young people into the organisation. Specifically Krantech required bespoke training which utiliised available commercial training in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) over and above the general engineering apprenticeship training which was available. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is a standardised system that when understood and used effectively, can significantly reduce manufacturing costs and improve quality.

Skills Made Easy visited Paul at his offices where his designated Account Manager developed a detailed knowledge of the skills Krantech’s workforce required and recognised that a welding or mechanical engineering apprenticeship training framework alone was not wholly sufficient to satisfy what Krantech needed of its potential apprentices. The Account Manager then went away to broker training options on Krantechs behalf with a number of different training providers.

Two weeks after this initial visit Skills Made Easy came back to Paul with details of what could be delivered via Skills Made Easy to best suit Krantech’s needs. This included standard mechanical engineering, welding and fabrication apprenticeship frameworks but with additional training in GD&T ‘bolted on’ to be delivered alongside the apprenticeship framework. Both elements of the training Skills Made Easy sourced came fully funded, the apprenticeship training through the Skills Funding Agency and the commercial GD&T bolt on via the Skills Made Easy Incentive Fund.

Satisfied with the proposed training solution the company then used Skills Made Easy to facilitate recruitment of the new apprentice positions they were now able to create. Working alongside the Directors and Line Managers, Skills Made Easy advertised for candidates, sifted applicants and organised a recruitment and assessment day for those shortlisted. Following this event, six candidates where selected for work trials by Paul and his colleagues. Of these six, three were offered positions with Krantech and Skills Made Easy initiated the training process.

Paul Wright, Director of Krantech said:

“I was looking specifically for help with additional funded training that our new and existing staff need to undertake, by engaging with Skills Made Easy we have been able to fulfill our requirements. I’ve found the process of using Skills Made Easy very straightforward and my Account Manager to be a very contentious individual, with a tenacity to excel in the challenges given to her.”
