The Sheffield City Region Growth Hub has been working with South Yorkshire’s Local Authorities to support the region’s businesses throughout the pandemic.

The SME Restart and Recovery and Kickstarting Tourism Package has been created to help businesses in the Sheffield City Region adapt and diversify following the impact of COVID-19, and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with eligible SMEs able to access grants between £1K – £3K.

It is one of many schemes available to businesses who have fallen through the cracks of Government support, and to drive forward recovery, renewal and growth, with the Additional Restrictions Grant and Supply Chain Support Scheme also recently announced.

The grant application window for the SME Restart and Recovery and Kickstarting Tourism Package opens on Local Authority websites on Wednesday 2nd December at 9am. To manage the expected demand and the funds available for the scheme, the application process will close when 358 applications have been submitted on a first come first served basis.

Alexa Greaves, Board Member and Small Business Champion for the Sheffield City Region’s Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We’ve seen a staggering amount of interest from businesses across the region, so I would encourage those keen to apply to do so as soon as applications open. It’s great we’re able to support so many businesses, but we expect applications to be incredibly popular and, unfortunately, are limited with the funds we have access to. We expect this will mean a large number of businesses will sadly not be able to successfully submit an application.

It’s an incredibly difficult time for businesses, and the strength and resilience shown is to be admired. The Business Growth Hub has been providing advice and support to businesses throughout the pandemic, so businesses who may not be successful with this grant should get in touch to discuss their options with us.”

Businesses needing help navigating the support available to them can contact their Local Authority to discuss eligibility for the Additional Restrictions Grant and Supply Chain Support Scheme, and can contact the Growth Hub for further guidance via www.scrgrowthhub.co.uk
