UK Community Renewal Fund

**update 23rd June, 2021**

Community Renewal Fund submission

In March 2021, the UK Government announced £220 million investment in the UK Community Renewal Fund (UKCRF).

Sheffield City Region Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) was designated as a lead authority by the UK Government.

Working with the four local councils of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, and Sheffield, we sought proposals from across the region for submission to the Government in June.

Following a competitive bidding process from across South Yorkshire, the MCA submitted a total of 11 schemes to the Government by the deadline of 18 June.

In total, 66 projects were submitted as part of the process with a total value of £49.2m. This was set against a maximum of £3m available in each of the four council areas.

Because the total value of schemes submitted exceeded the threshold of funding available, the MCA reviewed all schemes in line with the criteria set out by the Government, the MCA’s assurance processes and an assessment of local strategic fit.

Schemes were then ranked to enable a compliant submission to be made in line with the maximum funding available.

The schemes put forward to the Government to secure funding are:

Area Applicant Project Name
Sheffield Sheffield City Council Together to Work
Sheffield Hallam University Levelling Up Futures in Sheffield (LUFiS)
Barnsley Barnsley MBC Barnsley Central Area-Based Good Growth Pilot
3SC Covid-19 Reintegration Programme
Doncaster Business Doncaster Decarbonising Doncaster
Business Doncaster and Doncaster Chamber Doncaster Thrive: Pathways to Recovery
Public Health and Partners Doncaster Engage: Pathways To Recovery
DN Colleges Group Doncaster Progress: Pathways to Recovery
Rotherham Labre’s Hope Labre’s Hope
Voluntary Action Rotherham Anything’s Possible, Rotherham!
RMBC Children’s Capital of Culture – Creative & Cultural Skills Embassy

Please note that inclusion on this list is no guarantee of funding. The final decision on allocation sits with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Growth.

If you submitted a scheme that is not included in the table above and would like feedback on your submission, you should contact the lead local council using the contact details below.
